One thing that I'd caution you about the XC90 is that it has air suspension - something which goes bad frequently in many cars that come with it, and the cost to repair/replace those things is not cheap! GLE 300D on the other hand though comes with normal coilovers / multilinks. XC90 is a beautiful city slicker, whereas GLE is decently beefy as an off-roader. GLE 300D is a better 'SUV' I'd say than XC90. You wouldn't go wrong with XC90, however, as others have cautioned about its after-sales service, I would say that, unless you're tight with your dealer, abstain. I had one dealer in my neighboring state, which was 4 hours away from me, who had to deny selling it to me, and instead had to route the request to my state's dealer, who was 8 hours away from me! Volvo's policy with respect to not selling outside their designated regions is strange indeed. I guess things haven't changed as much since I last posted. Still, I will be visiting the dealer on the weekend. My initial impressions were that I found the interior quality of this car to be very average and not even comparable to the XC90 (which is a benchmark for me). Range Rover Velar - I had a brief walkaround with this as my friend owns one. BMW X5 - Dealer doesn't have a display/test-drive car.ħ. BMW 630d M Sport - Again not really looking for sedans but have decided to check it out anyway if my parents get their desired seating position. The dealer also doesn't have a car right now, the last one got booked 3-4 days back.ĥ. Mercedes E200 Exclusive - We loved this car but not really looking for a sedan (low seating position). (My dad doesn't care for the improved mechanicals as the car will be mostly be driven in the city with an annual usage of 3-5k km a year)Ĥ. I don't intend on shelling more for the 400d only because of a 360-degree camera. Mercedes has really messed up with the variants in this car. It is only 4-5 Lakh cheaper than the XC90 but doesn't even offer 1/3 of the equipment offered by it. Mercedes GLE (300d) - The car is very spacious and that is pretty much it. My dad did a TD today, although he liked it, it is pretty much ruled out as he feels there is no point spending so much when there is only a marginal increase from our existing car.ģ. Volvo XC60 (Wild-card entry) - The dealer was pushing me towards the XC60 as he has an MY2021 model coming next week. I called up the dealers in NCR to find if they had a vehicle in-stock that I could pick but they refused to sell me a car saying that they aren't allowed to make a deal when I already have a Volvo dealer in Lucknow (Some crazy Volvo policy, I guess).Ģ. Volvo XC90 - My family absolutely loves this car, it is perfect for our needs and fulfills everything we want from our new purchase but the caveat is that it is simply not available with the dealer right now and we intend to close the deal this month to claim depreciation benefits. The cars that I am primarily looking for are:-ġ. I am in the same boat, planning to replace my 2014 Audi Q3, it has done about 40k km. Mojave silver is sick as well! It really is a GLS in 5 seat format.Ĭongrats on the purchase, and I'm waiting for the initial ownership experience! I really love the GLE 400D, and was the exact car I intended to buy when I made this thread. The other option they gave me was to go to Pune to their plant to test drive it there within their campus, which wasn't something I intended to do during the biggest wave of Corona, so I gave up. You're right about the GLS being ferried around as a way to upsell and to showcase the engine. So I remember them saying that they were going to get new stock towards the end of Dec. Mostly its the GLS being used to get a feel of the engine. Dont think Mercedes has the 400d for a test drive anywhere in India. Also ex-showroom prices have increased by 4 lakhs after Jan 13th. So couldn't get anywhere close to that number. There is only one car in stock across both the dealers in Bangalore.
